Just the term "wedding" in general sends a joyous, loving, looking-forward feeling to many. And for couples who care a lot about their guests, they always step their best foot forward, to let their loved ones feel that they are not only honored but sincerely cared for. Here are 7 tips to make your occasion not to be branded as "just-another-wedding".
1. Hunger Games – Be aware that some of your guests haven’t had a meal before going to your event. Provide refreshment and/or finger foods while waiting for the reception to start or during travel time from ceremony to reception. Samples are 1 cupcake, nuts, dried fruits in a little pouch (with Note: Enjoy our favorite snack when we were kids!). Guess what? Most of them will munch it… believe me.
2. Do you know where you’re going to... Diana Ross is that you? - Ok, people don’t want to feel lost just as you are. Give your guests timelines, how many minutes travel time from ceremony to reception (if ceremony and reception are different) Google map links, handy detailed tips to easy route/s going to the venue is a sure win, they will love you for that.
3. Program is a Map – The event program is like a map. The program tells you where you are now and where you are heading (except for surprises, you should not disclose). They will feel more comfortable because they are aware of what’s happening around them and when the event will finish.
5. Express yourself – “I want to say something to the couple but I’m so shy to say it, or my table is so far from them, etc., etc."- by Guest. A personalized Card is the answer! Apart from being able to express themselves through writing, this will make them busy during Reception’s off-peak time. Please provide one to the guest who’s the shy type and also not-so-shy type one.
6. Personal name – “Wow, I’m important, my name is here”. Needless to say, when a guest saw his/her name printed down in their table or plate, that gives them a morale boost.
7. I love to queue! Said no one ever. Buffet with a long queue of people is a pain in the eyes, pain in the arm of parents carrying a child, and pain in the legs of senior citizens. Do some tricks in your program so that these scenarios won’t happen, and yet the excitement to taste the food is still in the air.
This is tedious and nitty-gritty task because it will take ample preparations, but if you want your event to be a guest-caring-event, then you might want to consider these :)
