It was a day of difficult and dangerous decisions that turns out to be a beautiful story.
This is the day we almost change our business name into #BuwisBuhay Wedding Coordination Services (of course this is an exaggeration) An event that requires vendors, not just us, to risk lives to go towards where earthquakes, thick black muds, and heavy ash falls of Taal Volcano's are.
It was early morning 2:00 am to be exact of January 13, 2020, that's 12 hrs. after the great eruption. Forcing our van through a thick muddy way going to Tagaytay via "pitch dark" street of Sta. Rosa Road is not possible, so we tried another option which is Casile Road, tracking half of it but unfortunately, we failed. Casile Road had the same 4-5inches thick mud but is steeper. Persistently we go back to Sta. Rosa Road to push for our morning wedding.
Resolved to handle our clients' wedding and wanted to see it carried thru, we mastered our feeling of fear & uncertainty. From 12midnight in our home, while on the roads and up to the wedding venue we are coordinating vendors and everyone concerned in the safest way possible.
We managed to reach #CaleruegaChurch, the reception should be in #BalayDako (that has supposed to have a beautiful view of the Taal volcano) but because of the situation it was transferred to #AbagatanTiManila, that's 20 minutes drive from the church. There's no ashfall in both places because it's Nasugbu Batangas area, but in between ceremony & reception earthquakes as high as 4.1 magnitudes are consistent almost every hour, one instance because of a real scary shake everybody were advised to go outside of the reception area to be safe and back again after a few minutes of silence.
It didn't stop there, after the event, of course, we have to go back home. This is another challenge - what if we cannot go back home alive? #TaalVolcano is still in turmoil and we'll be inhaling again the fresh ash falls in the air on our way home. Funny, that's the time fear creeps real, that we asked our driver to drive as fast as he can to get away as soonest from Tagaytay (good the roads are half clear by afternoon). We are strongly sure, these scenarios have happened to other event vendors that day as well. In this story, we learned that if you value people and you love what you are doing, the danger or threats attached to it brings out the warrior in you.
XOXO,
