18 Beach Wedding Planning Tips & Tricks

Updated: Jun 22

Are you excited about your Beach Wedding? Dreaming your feet in the sand while saying I Do’s? Well, I got you covered 💪

How many beautiful beaches in the Philippines, from North to South, East to West but let me filter for the sake of those planning in Batangas, as it itself has countless venues suited for a wedding. Then I filtered again to Western & Southern parts, I find these 2 geographic locations the best so far, Nasugbu & Laiya, San Juan. Not the same as Boracay sands but both have white sands.

A decent beach is a dragging 3-4 hrs. drive from Manila, but once you reach the place it’ll definitely take your breath away!

Here are a few details I acquired while doing ocular and talking to beach venues, and beach wedding suppliers. Let’s start 😊

Time for Tying the Knots:

  1. Sunset Wedding – if you are aiming for a sunset wedding consider that on western beaches like Nasugbu area (facing the sea) the sunset will be on your left side. While Beach in Laiya, San Juan the sunset is at your right. The beauty of these south and the west beach is that they have gorgeous mountains that add up to your wedding background. I noticed if you choose Laiya side (in one angle of the picture) you can get a 3 in 1 nature portrait - a sunset, a sea, and stunning mountains!

2. Sunrise Wedding - Unfortunately, there’s no sunrise in Batangas beach venues, if you know please share with us. For me, it’s delightful to have a morning beach wedding too – the smell of sea breeze, the sounds of the wave, and the feel of sun's fresh kiss. By the way, vendors may charge you a night differential for morning weddings as they need to be in the venue as early as 2 am, fyi.

Loving Your Lovely Guests:

  1. Guest’s Accommodation – if you are paying for your guest’s accommodation you may get a minimum 2days/1night stay, instead of housing them all on the beach (which is expensive) check Air BnB houses around the venue you chose.

  2. Guests Transportation - you have to consider vans may impose distancing, meaning if the capacity is 12 it may become 8. Ask for the lodging and food agreement for the drivers also.

  3. Guest’s Foods – add into your budget the lunch upon arrival on the day of your wedding, and breakfast on the next day before they leave.

  4. Guests Security- private beaches are more secure than public ones (most of the time), which means you need to pay a reasonable cost. Security and convenience always have a price.

  5. Guests will Pay – Now if your guests will pay by themselves, give them 2-3 options for a place to stay, 2-3 restaurants to dine at, and 1-2 transpo companies to book for their van/car.

Budgeting Your Budget:

  1. Lessening your invited guests is always advisable, to lower the expenses.

  2. Removing the not-so-important vendors is the second option. Instead of printing invitation cards make an online invitation (there are free websites), cut your souvenir budget, no fire dancers, and you know what only really matters.

  3. OTF – consider that vendors will charge you Out of Town Fees from 3-10k as they need to travel and may need accommodations. Either you provide them with accommodation or give cash instead. Check each requirement.

  4. Medical Requirements - be mindful of the RT PCR and other Covid medical test expenses, if implemented again a huge budget is required, include it in your contingency/emergency budget.

  5. Contingency/Emergency Budget – always include 10-15% based on your budget. Why? You may need a tent if it’s raining the week of your wedding, medical tests for vendors and guests if the need arises, corkage, a dozen petty expenses that if you summarize are serious costs, plus many surprising expenses along with the planning.

  6. Just a hint, a decent Beach Wedding costs 500-600 Php for 50pax, but then it always depends on your preferences and requirements. I have a client whose budget is 1M Php for 60 guests.

Date with your Dream Team

  1. Event Stylist– this may cost you a real deal in your budget. The heat of the sun, un-sturdy sands, and moving winds will never cooperate with anyone, Stylist needs to protect their items and make sure their designs will remain steady.

  2. Caterer – the same with this vendor they need to charge higher service fees. Food & beverage handling is a critical business, protecting these needs more manpower and high-grade storage in challenging venues like beaches.

  3. Sounds & Lights - you will need a better one because the air is moving along the beach, if you don’t have the right tech it may result in poor quality Sounds and Lights output. Some venues don't allocate electricity on the beach, you have to provide a generator then.

  4. Stream Provider – if you are planning to invite your guests virtually, check not only the availability of the Wi-Fi but the stability and strength based on the “specific time” of your wedding. Coordinate with your Stream/Virtual service provider and your venue.

  5. Wedding Planner – get a planner who specializes in Beach weddings. Beach wedding requirements are more difficult to handle compared to normal indoor or garden venues. These planners knew the right budget for your needs and the essential requirements of beach weddings.

A total of 18 Tips! These are just a few pieces of information for you to consider, some are ideal, and many are facts, I hope it helps. You can always implement your desires and preferences, but please ask for advice first from your wedding planner.

I’m looking forward to sharing other beach venues apart from lovely Batangas shores, but you know I need to do research, to make sure I gave you the correct information and to add more depth to my blog as well.
